Rust's November 2026 update brings a complete blueprint overhaul, the new Uzi 9mm, roaming scientist boats, and further livestock improvements. Players can also expect new wildlife, building options, balance adjustments, and performance optimizations.

Whether you're jumping into the wipe or running your own Rust server, here's everything coming with November's update.

Complete Blueprint Progression Rework

The biggest change is Rust's blueprint overhaul. Instead of spending Scrap to unlock items through tech trees, players will need three blueprint items:

Three Rust blueprint items showing a Blueprint Fragment, Blueprint Page, and Blueprint Book.
  • Blueprint Fragments: Used for Tier 1 and Engineering Workbench unlocks.
  • Blueprint Pages: Used for Tier 2 unlocks.
  • Blueprint Books: Used for Tier 3 unlocks.

Each unlock requires one corresponding blueprint item. Fragments appear in common loot, while Pages and Books come from increasingly valuable sources. Players can combine 10 Fragments into one Page, but Pages cannot become Books.

Scrap remains necessary for Research Table use and workbench crafting. Workbench costs are changing to:

  • Tier 1: 50 Scrap
  • Tier 2: 500 Scrap
  • Tier 3: 1,250 Scrap

The workbench upgrades introduced earlier this year are also being adjusted. The Prototype Upgrade now has a 25% success chance, while the Salvage Upgrade has a 20% chance of preserving a blueprint.

Overall, progression will depend more on exploration and looting rather than simply farming Scrap.

New Uzi 9mm Weapon

Rust is introducing the Uzi 9mm, a compact SMG with a collapsible stock and two firing modes. With the stock folded, it fires automatically and supports shield use, although its wider bullet spread makes it better suited for close-range combat.

Extending the stock switches the Uzi to semi-automatic fire, improving accuracy and recoil control while allowing players to aim down sights. The weapon cannot be crafted or researched and must instead be found in Elite Crates, Hackable Crates, or certain underwater crates.

Lighthouse Repairs And Deep Sea Access

Lighthouses will begin each wipe with damaged light mechanisms, preventing access to the Deep Sea until repairs are completed. Players must climb to the top of a Lighthouse and use a Hammer with the required resources to restore it.

Repairing one Lighthouse activates the others across the map, introducing another early-wipe objective for players hoping to explore the Deep Sea.

Roaming Scientist Boats

Rust's coastline is becoming more dangerous with scientist-controlled PT boats and RHIBs patrolling offshore waters. Similar to the Patrol Helicopter, these patrols target armed or geared players and anyone who attacks them.

Scientists have improved navigation and pursuit behavior, allowing their boats to maneuver around obstacles and react to fallen crew members. Defeating these patrols provides valuable loot, including Blueprint Pages, and an opportunity to capture their boats.

Livestock Improvements, Shears And Wool Armor

Following Rust's October livestock update, Facepunch is refining animal ownership, feeding, and breeding. Young animals now only need 80% happiness to reach their maximum potential, while inherited traits affect their value.

The update also introduces Shears, which collect approximately 25% more wool than a knife without harming sheep. Wool Armor Inserts provide additional cold, melee, and projectile protection, giving farmers more practical uses for their resources.

New Scrap King DLC Building Skin

Rust base constructed with the Scrap King metal building skin, featuring rusty metal panels and industrial details.

Scrap King is a new premium building skin designed for Rust's metal building tier, featuring rusty corrugated panels, exposed metalwork, weathered concrete, and makeshift industrial details.

The skin redesigns walls, foundations, floors, roofs, stairs, and other building components, including their interior textures. Facepunch has also refined its roof overhangs, collision geometry, and destruction effects.

Scrap King changes the appearance of metal structures without providing additional protection. Its development work and store artwork have been completed, although the exact release date and price remain unconfirmed.

Apple Trees, Coconut Trees And New Wildlife

Rust's environment is receiving new food sources, including apples that grow on certain oak trees and coconuts found on tropical palms. Players can knock down the fruit and collect it while exploring.

Crows and seagulls are also joining the island's wildlife, featuring unique animations and environmental behavior. Crows gather around corpses, while seagulls appear near coastal areas, harbors, and fishing villages.

Building Improvements And Placement Fixes

Builders can now mirror L-shaped and U-shaped stairs, using Q or E to switch between rotation and mirroring options. This provides greater flexibility when designing symmetrical bases, with the option to adjust stairs shortly after placement.

Several building placement issues have also been addressed. Roof overhangs across different building skins previously had inconsistent collision boundaries that blocked nearby building pieces, including foundations. These have been corrected, alongside an issue where triangle roofs could be blocked by stone frames depending on their orientation.

Ramp placement has also received fixes, including situations where ramps were incorrectly blocked by other ramps up to three meters above them, even through floors. Low ramps should no longer be obstructed by deployable objects in rooms below, making more complex base layouts easier to construct.

Weapon, Food And Survival Balance Changes

The Handmade SMG receives a small damage increase from 20 to 21, while the Nailgun gets refreshed models, textures, firing animations, and effects. It now also supports Workshop skins, allowing players to customize its appearance.

Crocodile Pie now provides an animal-repellent effect that discourages hostile wildlife from attacking, with the Rich variant extending its duration. Teas are also being rebalanced, with Advanced bonuses reduced by approximately 11%, Pure and Milky teas by 18%, and Creamy teas by 20%. Healing, Crafting Quality, and Radiation Removal teas remain unchanged.

Sprinting will also consume more calories and hydration, making food and water supplies slightly more important during longer journeys.

Other Changes And Quality-Of-Life Improvements

November's update includes numerous smaller improvements affecting everyday gameplay:

  • Military Tunnels entrance blockers now require explosives to destroy.
  • Modular vehicles spawn with low-quality parts that cannot be removed until using a car lift.
  • Map markers can now be dragged using the middle mouse button.
  • Food containing seeds receives an Extract option.
  • Loot inventories automatically close when players move out of range.
  • Controller support receives additional improvements.
  • Softcore disables clans and introduces a six-Tool-Cupboard limit per player.
  • Prisoner Hoods now muffle sound for the wearer.
  • Small trees become easier to hit consistently.
  • Player turning animations and locked crate map icons receive improvements.
  • Diving Propulsion Vehicles receive better acceleration, fuel efficiency, and interaction menus.

Performance And Server Optimizations

Facepunch has introduced optimizations targeting memory usage, rendering, entity networking, and building privilege calculations. These changes aim to reduce unnecessary processing, particularly around large bases and active entities.

For communities using Rust hosting, these improvements could reduce server overhead, although actual performance gains depend on hardware, plugins, and player activity.
