If your Enshrouded server isn't showing up in the server list, it can be frustrating, especially when you've already configured everything and your friends are waiting to join. Fortunately, a missing server doesn't always mean something is wrong with the server itself.
Incorrect server browser filters, Steam query ports, outdated game versions, and networking issues can all prevent an Enshrouded dedicated server from appearing.
Whether you're self-hosting or using Enshrouded server hosting from Pine Hosting, this guide covers the most common causes and how to fix them.
Why Is Your Enshrouded Server Not Showing Up?
There are several reasons an Enshrouded server might not appear in the multiplayer browser.
The most common include:
- Your dedicated server hasn't finished starting.
- Dedicated servers are hidden by your browser filters.
- You're searching for the wrong server name.
- The Steam query port is incorrect or blocked.
- Your Enshrouded server is running an outdated version.
- Steam is experiencing connection or server discovery issues.
It's best to check these possibilities individually before making significant changes to your server.
Check If Your Enshrouded Server Is Running
Before troubleshooting your connection, confirm that your dedicated server is actually online.
For self-hosted installations, open the console window running enshrouded_server.exe.
When the server has started successfully, you should see a message similar to:
[Session] 'HostOnline' (up)!
This indicates that the server has reached its online state.
If the server hasn't finished starting, wait a few minutes and check for error messages. You can also inspect the logs in the logs folder inside your server installation directory.
If you're using Pine Hosting, open the Console tab of your game panel and confirm that your server is running.
Check Your Enshrouded Server Browser Filters
One of the simplest reasons your Enshrouded dedicated server might not appear is that your in-game server filters are hiding it.
Enshrouded's multiplayer browser supports both player-hosted sessions and dedicated servers, with separate filtering options.
To check your filters:
- Launch Enshrouded.
- Click Play from the main menu.
- Select Join.
- Open the Server Filter options.
- Make sure Show Dedicated Servers is enabled.
- Check that other filters aren't hiding your server.
For example, filtering by Steam friends, password protection, or available player slots can prevent certain servers from appearing.
Once you've adjusted the filters, search for your server again.
Make Sure You're Searching For The Correct Server Name
Another common problem is searching for a server using an incorrect or outdated name.
Self-hosted server owners can check the server name inside the enshrouded_server.json configuration file.
Look for:
"name": "Enshrouded Server"
Make sure the value matches the name you're entering into the multiplayer browser.
If you have a common server name, consider changing it to something more unique.
With Pine Hosting, you can change your server name through the Startup tab without manually editing the configuration file.
After updating the name, restart your server and search for it again.
How To Find An Enshrouded Server Through Steam Favorites
If your server is online but still doesn't appear in Enshrouded's browser, adding it to your Steam Favorites is one of the most reliable alternatives.
Steam allows you to register a dedicated server using its IP address and query port. Once added, favorited servers appear near the top of Enshrouded's multiplayer browser.
Follow these steps:
- Open the Steam desktop application.
- Click View in the top menu.
- Select Game Servers.
- Navigate to the Favorites tab.
- Click the + button to add a server.
- Enter your server's IP address and query port.
- Confirm the address and return to Enshrouded.
- Open the Join menu and look for your server among your favorites.
For example, your address might look like:
123.45.67.89:15637
Replace this example with your actual public server IP and query port.
Remember that the query port isn't necessarily the same as your server's main connection port. Using the wrong port may prevent Steam from locating your server.
Check Your Enshrouded Server Query Port
If you're self-hosting, an incorrectly configured query port can prevent players from discovering your server.
Open your enshrouded_server.json file and locate:
"queryPort": 15637
The default Enshrouded query port is 15637, although your server may use a different value depending on your configuration.
Also check that your server's IP setting is configured correctly. The default value is:
"ip": "0.0.0.0"
For home-hosted servers, you'll need to ensure that the query port is allowed through Windows Firewall and forwarded through your router to the computer hosting your server.
If you're running the server on a VPS, check the operating system firewall and any additional firewall rules provided by your VPS provider.
Make sure you're allowing the required UDP traffic for your configured query port.
Make Sure Your Server Is Updated
After an Enshrouded update, players may encounter connection problems if their game client and dedicated server are running incompatible versions.
This is particularly important around larger updates such as Enshrouded 1.0.
If you're self-hosting, update the Enshrouded Dedicated Server through Steam or SteamCMD and restart it afterward.
If you're hosting with Pine Hosting, simply restart your server through the game panel. Our automatic updating process will install the latest available server version during startup.
Once your server finishes updating, try searching for it again.

Other Enshrouded Connection Problems
If your server still isn't appearing, there are a few additional things worth checking.
Steam Server List Isn't Loading
If Steam isn't displaying servers correctly, try restarting the Steam client.
You can also clear your Steam download cache by navigating to Settings, selecting Downloads, and choosing Clear Download Cache.
Server Appears But You Cannot Join
If your server appears but rejects your connection, the problem may be unrelated to server discovery.
Check that you're using the correct password for your assigned user role and that your game version is compatible with the server.
Our Enshrouded server settings guide explains how to manage passwords, user roles, and other configuration options.
Connection Problems Continue
For persistent networking issues, try restarting your router or flushing your DNS cache.
On Windows, open Command Prompt and enter:
ipconfig /flushdns
This may help resolve some local connection issues, although it won't fix an incorrectly configured or offline server.
