Enshrouded is getting ready for its biggest update yet. After more than two years in Early Access, Enshrouded 1.0 officially launches on October 15, 2026, bringing new content, major combat changes, a higher level cap, new enemies, performance improvements, and more.

For players returning to Embervale or planning a new multiplayer world, the 1.0 release is a good time to prepare an Enshrouded server so your group can explore the new content together without relying on one player to keep their PC online.

Here is everything Keen Games has confirmed about Enshrouded 1.0 so far.

When Does Enshrouded 1.0 Release?

Enshrouded 1.0 releases on October 15, 2026, officially taking the game out of Early Access on Steam.

Keen Games has been gradually revealing more of the update ahead of release rather than publishing the complete changelog immediately. The full list of changes is expected alongside the launch, so there may still be plenty we have not seen yet.

One of the biggest areas Keen has already detailed is combat, particularly changes to mage builds.

Nine New Spells Are Coming In Enshrouded 1.0

Mage gameplay is receiving a major expansion in 1.0.

Entangled new enshrouded spell

Keen Games has confirmed nine new spells:

  • Mana Drain
  • Entangle
  • Pillar of Flames
  • Blizzard
  • Ball Lightning
  • Summon Fire Totem
  • Summon Ice Totem
  • Summon Shock Totem
  • Summon Hollow Skeleton

The addition of summons is particularly important because it introduces another way to build mage characters. Players will be able to summon skeletons and elemental totems, with new skills allowing more summons to remain active.

Existing spells are also being expanded across more progression tiers. Enshrouded 1.0 will have 22 Tier 7 Eternal spell versions, and Eternal spells can now be upgraded similarly to weapons and armor.

Mana costs and casting times are also being rebalanced, meaning mage gameplay should feel noticeably different even when using existing spells.

Wands And Archers Are Being Improved

Wands are also receiving several changes.

Heavy wand attacks will be able to pierce enemies and interrupt weaker targets, while new Aerial Wand Attack and Wand Evasion Attack skills are designed to make wand combat more mobile.

Targeting is being improved as well, including changes to both soft-lock and hard-lock behavior.

Archers are getting new skills too, including Puncture, Barrage, and Survival Instinct. Three new Eternal arrows are also being introduced: Fire, Shock, and Bone. Like Eternal spells, Eternal arrows will be upgradeable.

These changes should provide more options for ranged builds rather than making 1.0's combat changes entirely focused on melee players.

Enshrouded's Level Cap Is Increasing To 50

The Enshrouded 1.0 update will raise the maximum player level to 50.

Equipment will be able to reach level 55, giving existing players another progression target when the update arrives. Keen Games has connected the increase to a new biome, new enemy tier, and new equipment to discover.

Players should also be aware that skill trees will be reset when 1.0 launches because skills are being moved, changed, and expanded.

Your character will therefore need to have their skill points reassigned before heading back into combat.

Newer players preparing for the update may also want to get familiar with Enshrouded's core progression, survival, and exploration systems before moving deeper into Embervale.

New Enemies Are Coming To Embervale

Existing enemy factions are getting additional variants in 1.0.

Keen has mentioned both the Fell and Scavengers, with new heavy and elite-level enemies being added to increase encounter variety.

Combined with the higher level cap and new biome, this should give established groups more challenging content rather than simply adding new areas filled with familiar enemies.

The Dragon Boss Fight Is Getting A Major Rework

One of Enshrouded's more frustrating boss encounters is also receiving several changes for 1.0. The Fell Dragon Youngling fight is being reworked to make the encounter less punishing while addressing some of the issues players have experienced with the arena and boss mechanics.

The dragon's overall health is being reduced, while the arena itself is being made larger. This should give players more room to avoid attacks such as the powerful gust of wind that can currently knock players from the platform.

The way the dragon regenerates health is changing as well. Instead of quickly returning to full health when a player dies or temporarily leaves the fight, the dragon will regenerate health gradually. This gives players a better opportunity to return to the arena and continue the encounter without losing all of their progress.

Keen Games is also adjusting the dragon's hitbox and reworking its weak points so that different weapon types can take advantage of them more effectively. Together, these changes should make the fight more accessible to a wider range of builds rather than heavily favoring particular weapons or strategies.

With a larger arena, lower health pool, improved hit detection, changes to weak-point damage, and less aggressive health regeneration, the Fell Dragon Youngling fight should feel considerably different when Enshrouded 1.0 launches.

Performance Improvements Are A Major Focus

New content is only part of the 1.0 update.

Keen Games has also said that improving performance is one of the team's major priorities for release. After years of adding new systems, locations, vegetation, and visual detail during Early Access, the developers are working on improving how Enshrouded performs, including on lower and mid-range hardware.

Performance improvements could be particularly useful for multiplayer groups, where large bases and several players exploring simultaneously can put additional pressure on hardware.

Using dedicated Enshrouded hosting also keeps the server workload separate from the computer you are using to play while allowing the world to remain online when the original host is offline.

Preparing Your Enshrouded Server For 1.0

Major game updates are a good opportunity to check your server before everyone returns.

If you already have an Enshrouded world, creating a backup before October 15 is a sensible precaution. You should also make sure your server is running the latest game version before attempting to connect after the update launches.

With Pine Hosting, updating an Enshrouded server only requires restarting it. Automatic scheduled restarts can also be used so the server updates to the latest available version without requiring you to manually maintain the installation.

Server owners can also adjust difficulty, player slots, passwords, voice chat, resource rates, and other gameplay options directly through their Enshrouded server settings.

Players who have spent Early Access playing locally can also transfer an existing single-player Enshrouded world to a server instead of abandoning their current progress when moving to multiplayer.

What Else Is Coming In Enshrouded 1.0?

Keen Games has made it clear that the features revealed so far are only part of the complete 1.0 update.

A longer highlights overview and full release changelog are expected around the October 15 launch. The developers have already confirmed the new biome, higher progression cap, combat overhaul, enemy additions, movement improvements, and ongoing optimization work, but more changes are still likely to be detailed before release.

With Enshrouded finally leaving Early Access, the 1.0 update gives both returning players and new groups a good reason to start exploring Embervale together. For groups planning a persistent multiplayer world, Pine Hosting provides dedicated Enshrouded hosting with automatic updates, backups, configuration controls, and support for multiplayer servers.

That makes it easier to focus on the new areas, enemies, builds, and progression coming with 1.0 without having to keep a personal computer online or manage the server manually.
