Setting up a private 7D2D server is easy. This guide explains how to add a password or enable whitelisting to control who can join.
If you want to limit who can join your server we recommend setting up your server as private. 7 Days To Die server offers 2 ways of making this possible:
- Server password
- Whitelisting the server
Adding a server password:
- Login to your game panel here
- Select the server you want to work on
- Open the "Startup" tab and find "SERVER PASSWORD" and set a password you wish
- Restart the server and share the password with your friends to join
Enabling whitelist:
By adding users to the whitelist, you will automatically enable whitelist mode. Anyone who is not on the list will not be able to join, so you don't need to set a password.
- Login to your game panel here
- Select the server you want to work on
- Open the "Files" tab and navigate to ".local/share/7DaysToDie/Saves/"
- Open "serveradmin.xml"
- Find the whitelist part of the "serveradmin.xml" file and add the following line "<user steamID="YourSteam64ID"/>" - replace YourSteam64ID with actual ID: example: <user steamID="76561198197864241>
- Save the file and restart the server.
